Edward Lenzi

Edward Frank Lenzi, 84, of Shiloh, Illinois, passed away on April 3, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois. Ed was a long time resident of Granite City and had recently moved to the Shiloh, Illinois area.

He was born July 22, 1939 in Pittsfield, Illinois the son of Edward and Natalie (nee Bybee) Lenzi. Ed married Beverly Ann Perry on August 27, 1960 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon, Illinois. Ed knew Bev was the woman he wanted to marry the night they met, and they enjoyed over 67 years together.

Ed is survived by his wife Bev; daughters Cheryl (David) Breeden of Belleville, Illinois, Gina (Rodney) Holloway of Alton, Illinois, and Adrienne (Charles) Chastain of Berryville, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, David Breeden, Jr, of Swansea, Illinois, Kellye (Aaron) Parker of Fairview Heights, Illinois, Samuel Chastain and Matthew Chastain of Springfield, Missouri, and Natalie Holloway and Cameron Holloway of Alton, Illinois; and 1 great grandchild, Corbin Breeden of Swansea, Illinois; 2 sisters, Annetta Lamb and Barbara Schroeder and 1 brother, Alan (Sharon) Lenzi; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed retired in 1993 from the Granite City School District, having taught high school math for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1098 for more than 67 years and was a member of the Fourth Degree.

Ed and Bev loved to travel to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone as often as they could. Instilling a love of the West into their family.

In addition to his parents Ed was preceded in death by his baby sister Patricia; 3 brothers-in-law, Ted Schroeder, Larry (Donna) Perry, and Jim Lamb.

Visitation will be held at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home, 2205 Pontoon Road, Granite City from 5:00-8:00 pm on April 10. A memorial mass will be held at Holy Family Church, 2606 Washington Ave, Granite City, on Thursday, April 11 at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Good Samaritan House or masses to Holy Family Catholic Church, both in Granite City and may be accepted at the funeral home.
