Edward Wayne Buckshot, 68, died at 12:42 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Born June 9, 1948 in Alton, he was the son of Marion and Alberta (Carpenter) Buckshot. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2008 after over 30 years of service. On May 8, 1971 she married the former Marsha Fewell. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Michelle Powers of Alton and Mindy Matzenbacher (Doug) of Baldwin, IL, a son, Jeremy Buckshot (Shannon) of Prairie Du Rocher, IL, seven grandchildren, Tiffany and Katelyn Powers, Kyla and Kole McMahon, Brayden, Aleigha and Joey Buckshot and one great grandchild on the way. A sister, Sherry Buckshot of Alton also survives. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Shewmaker. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Dr. Glen Greenwood will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full military honors. Memorials may be made to “A Few Good Men” in care of Clinton Caldwell.
