Edna M. Spann passed away at 12:20 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab in Hardin, IL.
She was born on July 27, 1914 in Butte, Montana. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Cornwell) Henderson. Edna married Russell Lee Spann on July 27, 1931 in Edwardsville, IL. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1988.
Edna was a member of First Methodist Church of East Alton. She was involved in the Kouples Klub in Wood River Township, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family. She spent years of her life traveling to many countries and lived in Brisbane, Australia and Madras, India for several years.
She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Lee (Spann) Whitsell of Godfrey; 2 grandchildren, Mary L. Whitsell of Batchtown, IL, and Mark (Spann) Whitsell of East Alton, IL; and two great- grandchildren David M. Whitsell, and Whitt L. Whitsell.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers Frank and Jack Henderson; a sister Helen (Henderson) Diez; one son-in-law Marvin E. Whitsell; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at a later date. A private service will be held for immediate family.
Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association of St. Louis, and First Methodist Church of East Alton.
