Edna Jewell Marie Buscemi, age 86, passed away at 12:48 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Anderson Hospital.
She was born on April 8, 1930 in Eddyville, Kentucky the daughter of Lee Jackson and Lyda Timmons Forsythe. In September of 1995 Enda married Joseph Buscemi. He preceded her in death in 2011.
Edna was a member of Sanford Avenue Baptist Church in Alton. She loved to garden, listen to country music, cook and read cookbooks, and enjoyed dancing at Richards.
She is survived by two children, Michael Duncan of Bethalto and Ricky (Julia) Duncan of Godfrey; a sister, Pauline (Paul) Schmidt of Alton; a brother, Donald (Mary) Forsythe of Grand Rivers, KY; five grandchildren, Neshona (Prab) Sundaram, Brandon Duncan, Daniel Duncan, Christopher Duncan, and Matthew Duncan; three great grandchildren, Jasmine Khan, Alayna Sundaram and Dillon Duncan; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and church friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents; first husband, Marshall Doyle Duncan; two sisters, Mae Gillahan and Ernestine Goodwin; and four brothers, Travis Forsythe, Julian Forsythe, Atwood Forsythe, and Gerald Forsythe. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am, Tuesday January 17, 2017 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral service will be at 11 am, Tuesday January 17 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Bowers officiating.Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
