Edith Oetken Arnold, 94, died at 11:20 pm Saturday August 22, 2009 at Heritage Manor in Staunton, Il..
She was born on December 19, 1914, in Fosterburg, IL. The daughter of Benjamine F. and Minnie (Kamper) Oetken.
Edith married Randall M. Arnold, on April 19, 1962 in Alton, IL he preceded her in death on November 3, 1976.
Edith was a graduate from the St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1935, in Alton, IL. She was a registered nurse, and a certified public nurse in Illinois. She was employed as a school nurse in the Ease Alton school district #13 for over twenty-seven years. She also did private duty nursing and was a camp nurse in the area. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Alumni Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Fosterburg, IL. After her retirement in Illinois, Edith then moved to Texas and joined the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen, TX.
Sue is survived by one niece; Barbara Oetken of St. Louis, MO. and four nephews; William Gabriel, G. Thomas Gabriel, James Gabriel and John Gabriel, all of Madison county, IL
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sister's; Adel Gabriel and Ellen Malloy, and one brother; Miles Oetken.
Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded, with burial at a later date at Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito, TX.
