Edith Mae Radefeld, 98, passed away at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2019, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born January 30, 1921, in Hamburg to the late Harry and Maggie (Hess) Howland.
Edith and Francis Goewey were married on July 25, 1936, and he passed away on December 19, 1983. Edith and Paul Radefeld were married on December 19, 1987, and he passed away on October 29, 2005.
She was a homemaker and mother of six children.
Surviving is one daughter, Erma and Norman Koerner of Bethalto; one son, David Goewey, Sr. of Bethalto; twelve grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Bernie Geist of Roxana; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Edith was preceded in death by three daughters, Eileen Lawrence, Dorothy Pyle, and Wanda Geist; one son, Danny Goewey, Sr.; three sons-in-law, Bob Stilwell, Sr., Lloyd Lawrence, Sr. and Jon Pyle.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home with Bob Stilwell, Jr. Officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bethalto.
