Edgar Nolte

Edgar J. Nolte, 92, of Belleville, IL, born August 29, 1933, in Venedy, IL, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Edgar worked for many years as an auto mechanic before his retirement. He later delivered flowers for nearly 19 years for several local florists. Edgar was a 50 year member of the International Association of Machinist District #9, Local #313, where he held various offices throughout the years. He was also a member Trinity United Church of Christ.

Edgar and his wife, Melba, made many memories together traveling on several scenic bus tours and taking cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean Islands.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Alvina, nee Moellman, Nolte; and his sister, Shirley (Raymond) Nobe.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Melba L. Nolte, nee Harman, whom he married on September 2, 1961; his daughter, Sharon (Steve) Taylor; his son, Jeffrey (Lori) Nolte; four grandchildren, Justin Taylor, Mieke (David) Gray, Kady (Justin) Krones, and Tanner Nolte; and two great-grandchildren, Anevay Barbieri and Gustav Gray.

The Nolte family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers and staff, especially the ICU department, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, for their compassion and care during this difficult time.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Tim Powers-Reed and Rev. Joan Mier officiating.

Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
