Edgar L. Cronin, 98, died at 5:34 a.m. Sunday, May 17, 2026 at his home in Alton.
Born February 3, 1928 in Elsah, IL, he was the son of John Michael and Annette M. (Bechtold) Cronin.
Mr. Cronin served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired as a clerk for Illinois Terminal Railroad in 1986. He was a lifetime member of the Grafton Masonic Lodge Full Moon 341 and also a member of the American Legion in Alton.
On September 25, 1946 he married Virginia McCann. She preceded him in death. He married the former Carla E. Hauskins. She also preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John James Cronin and Robert M. Cronin and a sister, Catherine Farmer.
Private burial will be held at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors.
