Edeltrud Siler
Edwardsville | Save
Edeltrud Renate Siler, 84, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on June 17, 1941, in Saarbrücken, Germany, Edeltrud was the cherished daughter of the late Albert and Rosa (Wahl) Saar. On March 19, 1963, in Baumholder, Germany, she married the love of her life, George Siler, beginning a remarkable 62-year journey filled with devotion, laughter, and unshakable love.
Edeltrud lived a life guided by faith and family. A devoted member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, she also shared her talents and creativity with the community as a gifted seamstress. Her work at Bridal Couture in Edwardsville reflected her artistry, precision, and care. Whether she was sewing, crocheting, or quilting, every piece she created was touched with perfection and love.
Her greatest joy, however, was not found in her work, but in the moments she spent with her family. Edeltrud’s laughter was warm, her spirit was joyful, and her heart was endlessly generous. To her family and friends, she was not only a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother but also a source of encouragement, comfort, and unconditional love.
In addition to her parents, Edeltrud was preceded in death by her siblings, Rosemary Saar and Hans Albert Saar.
Left to treasure her memory are her devoted husband, George Siler of Edwardsville; her loving children, Diane (Michael) Pedigo, Sheryl (Darryl) Gaines, and Jamie (Amy) Siler, all of Granite City; her grandchildren,, Jacob (Megan Gregory) Harris, Danielle (Philip) Colby, Michael Pedigo, Michelle (Nathan) Anderson, Christopher Harris, and Jessica Harris; her nine adored great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and countless dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Jeff Goeckner officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Edeltrud’s legacy is one of love, laughter, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
