Earl McKinney

Earl F. McKinney, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend, peacefully entered eternal rest on September 4, 2026. Born on April 9, 1957, Earl lived a life defined by service, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and country.

Earl proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, including service during the Gulf War. As an engineer, he exemplified professionalism, discipline, and commitment throughout his military career. His honorable service to the nation earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Following two decades of dedicated service, Earl retired from the Navy, leaving behind a legacy of patriotism, integrity, and excellence.

Beyond his military accomplishments, Earl found his greatest joy in the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend whose wisdom, strength, and kindness touched countless lives. Whether offering guidance, sharing stories, or simply being present for those he loved, Earl created lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

Though he has departed this earthly life, Earl’s legacy will continue through the family he loved, the lives he influenced, and the countless memories that remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His life stands as a testament to the values of service, perseverance, and unconditional love.

May he rest in eternal peace, comforted by the knowledge that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

His father, Earl F. McKinney Sr.; mother, Mae D. McKinney; brothers, Reginald McKinney and Steve McKinney; stepdaughter, Dawn Dearie; and brother-in-law, Jessie Myers.

Survived By
His loving wife, Sylvia McKinney of Belleville, Illinois; daughters, Tanisha (Desmond) Latham of Chula Vista, California, and Cherisse (Lance Craig) McKinney of Belleville, Illinois; stepsons, William Dearie and Geoff Dearie; sisters, Janice Reeves of East St. Louis, Illinois, Marquette (Stanley) Williams of Cahokia, Illinois, Stephanie Myers of Centreville, Illinois, and Vonda (Walter) Owens of Shiloh, Illinois; sister-in-law, Andrea McKinney; along with cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Earl’s Grandkids Scholarship Fund, in care of Sylvia McKinney.

Interment: A Funeral Procession will leave Kurrus Funeral Home in Bellevile, Monday, September 21, 2026 for interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
