Duane L. Howard, 69, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on October 31, 1955, in Springfield, IL the son of Alvin Neal and Lois (Wales) Howard. Duane married Kathy Sampson on June 22, 1977, in Lincoln, IL, and she survives.
Duane worked in communications through the Local 649 Electrician's Hall. He was very artistic and loved to draw. Duane enjoyed hot rods and classic cars. He enjoyed fishing and camping. His friends affectionately called him "The Gentle Giant." Duane's greatest joys were spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Kathy; Duane is survived by two children, Sonya and Clinton Alemond of Godfrey, and Kenny White of Staunton; four siblings and their spouses, Larry Howard, Patty and Mike Taylor, Gina Peters, and Bill and Karel Howard; five grandchildren, Hailey Alemond, Emma Alemond, Laurali Alemond, Matthew and Ciara White, and Sydney White; three great-grandchildren, L.J., Malaki, and Isaak, and one on the way, Nora Ann.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ron Howard.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey will oversee his cremation.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
