Drew Johnson

Drew R. Johnson, 67, of Alton, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 9, 1958, to Richard and Sue (Helton) Johnson in Alton, IL. Drew spent his career working in the transportation industry. He married Teresa A. Wollberg on June 4, 1983, in West Alton, MO.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa; his children, Alicia (David) Gillean, Ben Johnson, and Anna (Nathan) Wanger; five grandchildren, Kaylin Kleinschnittger, Juan Gillean, Diego Gillean, Matias Gillean, and Elsie Wanger; his mother, Sue Johnson; and his sister, Gretchen (Matt) Harmon. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Johnson, and his brother, Kevin Johnson.

Drew had a deep appreciation for wildlife and was a true outdoorsman. Yellowstone National Park held a special place in his heart after being recently reintroduced through his oldest granddaughter. He fulfilled a bucket-list dream this past February, watching the gray wolves of Yellowstone with his wife. This past May, he shared another unforgettable trip with his son, black bear hunting on Vancouver Island. He was happiest in nature, whether catching a Pacific Blue Marlin in Hawaii, watching deer from his back porch, or simply sharing adventures with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, IL on August 8 at 11:00 AM. To honor Drew's memory and his love for the outdoors, donations may be made to Yellowstone Forever or Kids Outdoor Zone in care of Calvary Baptist Church.
