Dr. Rodolfo Ulrich Beer, 85, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Integrity Healthcare of Godfrey. Born June 26, 1931 in Piura, Peru, he was the son of Frederick and Ana Maria Burneo Beer. Dr. Beer graduated from the San Marcos College of Medicine in Lima, Peru in 1956. He started a private practice in the Alton-Wood River area in 1967 and retired as a general surgeon in 2006 having practiced at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Alton Memorial Hospital and Wood River Hospital. Surviving is a daughter, Andrea Beer (David) Clarke of Lafayette, LA, two sons, Scott (Lori) Beer of Grenada, MS, and Fritz Beer of Ashville, NC, one brother, Hans (Donna) Beer of Fairfield, OH, and a sister, Clara Ugaz of Lima, Peru. Dr. Beer has four grandchildren, Jeni Timmins, William Stage, Rudy Beer and Aidan Krueger-Beer and two great-grandchildren, Owen Timmins and Elliott Timmins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
