Dr. George Bendall Helden, DDS, 61, of Grafton, IL passed quietly at home with his family around him on October 4, 2016 at 11:20pm. After an almost three-year battle with cancer, Jesus took him home.
He came into this world April 2, 1955 in Pekin, IL to Rudolph and Mary Francis Helden. Married to his soul mate, Renae Peterson. They were blessed with two daughters; Rachel Brady and Lindsey (Derrick) Richardson, and two grandchildren, Levi and Iris.
Also surviving is a sister Carol (Don) Nolett of Gloversville, NY and their two sons and families. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rudolph Helden Jr.
A was a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, Chicago and Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency, Rochester, MN. He practiced for twenty-nine years in the partnership of Crammond and Helden, LTD of Alton and Edwardsville.
George was passionate about his work, education, staying active, exploring the outdoors, spending time with his family, and in his relationship with God. He had a strong yet gentle spirit and is loved by many.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Eden Church, 903 North Second Street, Edwardsville, IL on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9-10am. Doors will open at 8am.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Nature Institute, TreeHouse Wildlife Center, or Three Rivers Community Farm to support children’s learning, eagle rescues, and local organic produce; all causes he believed in.
