Dr. Dale G. Dickerson

Dr. Dale G. Dickerson, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Christian Hospital North East in St. Louis, MO.

He was born February 24, 1939, in Alton, IL, son of the late Jesse & H. Mary (Gerardo) Dickerson.  He married Doris A. (Miller) on June 8, 1963 in Roxana, IL, she survives.

Dale served his country in the United States Army Reserves.  He received his bachelor’s degree from SIUE, master’s degree from U of I and his doctorate degree from SLU.  Dale served his community working 32 years for the Bethalto School District #8 before retiring in 1994 as Superintendent of Schools.  After retirement, he continued to work for the Regional Superintendent of Schools in Madison County administering the GED test – a role he had maintained for several years. He was a member of Bethalto Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.  He was a past member of the Bethalto Rotary Club and served on the Wood River Township Hospital Board.  Dale enjoyed Playing Texas Hold’em every Thursday with his friends, eating Roma’s Pizza, watching Illini Basketball, and spending time with his family and friends.

Dale is survived by his loving wife Doris, his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Andy) DeBose of O’Fallon, IL; one granddaughter, Hannah DeBose of O’Fallon, IL and one sister, Candace Dickerson of New York, New York.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Frank Dickerson.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. 

Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Bethalto Presbyterian Church in Bethalto, IL with Pastor Jerry Wray will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Bethalto.
