Douglas Hart

HASTINGS, MN – Douglas Alan Hart, 52, died unexpectedly at 3:11 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Jacksonville on August 12, 1965, one of four children born to the late Ronald and Henrietta “Penny” (Heitzman) Hart.

Doug grew up in Greenfield and graduated with the class of 1983 from Carlinville High School. He went on to attend the University of Illinois, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science.

He bartended at various establishments in the Chesterfield area for many years before relocating to Hastings, MN where he has resided for the past 18 years. While in Minnesota, Doug worked as a Branch Manager for Team Industries, before his health required him to take an early retirement in 2016.

Doug enjoyed hunting in his younger years, and after relocating to Minnesota, cultivated his very own hobby farm on his property, complete with a small vineyard.

He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was giving of not only his time, but also his love, to both his family and his friends. He was always eager and willing to lend a helping held to anyone in need and the care and concern and he had for others was unmatched.

His nieces and nephew brought out so much joy and happiness in Doug and while he was known to be quite the prankster, it was evident how much he adored them all and how proud he was of each of their accomplishments.

Surviving are a sister and brother in-law, Cynthia and Bob Frank of Alton; two brothers and a sister in-law, David Hart of Hastings, MN and Nicholas and Elizabeth Hart of Chesterfield; a nephew, Austin Frank; three nieces, Brandy and Brooke Frank and Haley Hart; as well as a dear friend Janet Sande and her children, Hunter, Kayla, Rachel and Keith, of Hastings, MN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Sadie Hart and his maternal grandparents, Joe and Maggie Heitzman.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Burial will take place at the St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Hagaman.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to the family for an education fund to be established for his niece, Haley, in care of the funeral home.
