Dottie June Franz, 89, passed away October 17, 2023, at Lynn’s Heritage House in Louisiana, Missouri.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20th at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Cole Branstetter officiating. Bibb-Veach Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.

She was born January 9, 1934 in Grafton, Illinois to the late Lewis and Verna (Hawkins) Cates. She married Kenneth Franz on August 6, 1952. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2015.

Dottie is survived by her 4 children: Debbie (Olin) Hill of Jerseyville, Illinois, Beth (Stan) Sidwell of Maryville, Illinois, Martha (Ruben) Inofuentes of Denton, Texas, and Mark (Diane) Franz of New Hartford, Missouri. She had fourteen grandchildren: Brad (Neasha) Hill, Andrea (Shane) Winters, Michelle (Keith) Dory, Jeremy (Heather) Sidwell, Rachel (Ryan) Durham, Christina Sidwell, Benjamin (Janna) Sidwell, Leah (Josh) Peuterbaugh, Mariana Inofuentes, Mateo Inofuentes, Marco Infuentes, Jean’ Luc Infuentes, Morgan (Russ) Bresnahan, and Brandon (Victoria) Franz; 21 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are her two sisters, Geraldine Waggoner of Moscow, Texas and Patsy (Paul) Arnold of Grafton, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers, Leroy, Charles, and Donald Cates.

Dottie grew up in Grafton and graduated in 1952 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, Illinois. After her marriage to Kenneth, she happily assumed the role of homemaker and mother on the family farm in Grafton, Illinois, and later, on the family farm in New Hartford, Missouri. She enjoyed many things; cooking, gardening, bird watching, quilting, reading books, and writing poetry, just to name a few. She also taught Sunday School for many years. She was a woman of deep faith and especially enjoyed studying Bible prophecy. She looked forward to going to Heaven to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ. She spoke frequently of that great event.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lynn’s Heritage House or Pike County Home Health and Hospice.

The family would like to thank all of her caregivers at Lynn’s Heritage House in Louisiana, Missouri. Also, a special thank you to the caring staff from Pike County Home Health and Hospice.
