Dorris Edward Watt, 95, died at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his home.
Born March 26, 1923 in Otterville, IL, he was the son of Dewey and Myrtle (Ayres) Watt.
He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a photographer from Defense Mapping in 1985. He was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Alton and was an Odd Fellow and Mason. On March 24, 1951 he married the former Donnie Mobley in Alton. She survives.
Mr. Watt enjoyed fishing, travelling and loved genealogy. He and his wife enjoyed spending the winter months in Texas.
Along with his wife he is survived by three children, Raymond H. (Martha) Watt of Bethalto, Anita Ruth Forsythe of Alton, and David E. (Stanley) Watt of Tucson, AZ, five grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher and Matthew Duncan, and Paul and Mark Watt, two great grandchildren, Anaamika Watt and Dillon Duncan, and one brother, Wayne (Ruth) Watt of Alton.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elbert and Joe Watt.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018.
Burial will be at Noble Cemetery in Otterville, IL with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.
Memorials may be made to the Salem Presbyterian Church in Alton.
