Dorothy Rehmstedt, 95, of Wood River, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Bethalto Care Center. She was born May 2, 1919 in Wood River to Charles and Frances (Stimac) Zupan. She worked as a secretary and computer operator for Peabody Coal until her retirement in 1974.
She is survived by a sister, Lou McGarrah of Wood River; three grandchildren, Christina (Matt) Johnson of Bunker Hill, Jason McKey of Granite City, and Stephen Kersey Jr. of Wood River; one great grandson, Brady Kersey; a son-in-law, Steve Kersey, Sr. of Wood River and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Diana Lynn Kersey; three brothers, John, William and Paul Zupan and three sisters, Katherine Fitzgerald, Mary Baldwin and Anna Kennel.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 23 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 12 p.m. until services begin at 1 p.m. Father Tom Liebler will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Team Imagine, in honor of Diana Kersey.
