Dorothy Portwood, 82, of Carrollton died with her family by her side following a single vehicle accident
in Madisonville, Kentucky on Saturday August 4, 2018.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late August and Hilda
Marquart Schnettgoecke.

She married Kenneth "Pug" Portwood on May 17, 1958 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 19,
2010. Surviving are her children: Gary (wife, Mary Ann) Portwood of Sullivan, Craig (wife, Debbie)
Portwood of Carrollton, JoAnn (husband, Fred) Randolph of Carrollton; six grandchildren: Kelli Hughes
(husband, Zach) and Kayla Portwood, Lauren Nettles (husband, Brad) and Jason Portwood (fiance,
Breanna Walden), and Matt Randolph (wife, Tracy) and Megan Albrecht (husband, Aaron); eight great-
grandchildren: Carter and Kyndal Randolph, Keegan, Kyrsten, and Kole Hughes, Logan and Ellie Albrecht,
and Rhett Portwood; three sisters: LaVerne Bird of Cameron, MO., Rita Kasper of St. Louis, MO, Gertrude
Kirbach of Jacksonville, IL; and sisters-in-law: Betty Schnettgoecke, Doria Schnettgoecke and Rose
Schnettgoecke of Carrollton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters: Audrey
Rasmussen, JoAnn Schnettgoecke, Alvera Schnettgoecke, Hildegard Twillman, Marie Burton, and
brothers: Frank "Pete" Schnettgoecke, Arthur "Nippy" Schnettgoecke, Bernard "Marty" Schnettgoecke,
Charles "Sonny" Schnettgoecke, Henry (Fritz) Schnettgoecke; four brothers-in-law: Edward Kasper,
Leonard Kirbach, Roger Rasmussen, and Jerry Bird.

Dorothy was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Carrollton. She was a loving mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing with and holding her great-grandchildren.
She knew how to spoil everyone with her coconut cream pie and stash of candy in her purse. She loved
playing cards with her sisters, watching Cardinal's baseball, and having Sunday dinners.

Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday August 9,2018 at st. John's Catholic Church in Carrollton
with a prayer service at 3:45 p.m. that day. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday August 10, 2018
at 10 A.M. at the church with burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to: St.
John's School Safety, St. John's School Booster Club, or St. Jude's. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in
