Dorothy Joyce

Dorothy M. Joyce, age 92, of Godfrey, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.She was born May 23, 1925, in Goreville, IL the daughter of George and Sarah (Richardson) Harmon. She married Leon E. Joyce in 1946 in Wood River and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1992.Dorothy was a member of the Church of Christ in Hartford. She had worked for many years at Olin Corp. as an inspector. She enjoyed traveling, listening to country music, and attending family reunions. Dorothy’s greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.She is survived by four sons, Larry and Lydia Joyce of Moreno Valley, CA, Steve Joyce of Crowley, TX, Jeff Joyce of Godfrey, and David Joyce of Godfrey; one daughter, Cynthia Ele of Wood River; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Kessler, and Betty Nichols; and many other relatives and friends.In addition to her husband, Leon; she is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Joyce; a daughter, Mary Joyce; and two grandchildren, Justin and Christa Marie Joyce; and six brothers and sisters.Visitation will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2017, at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel.Burial will take place in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is in charge of arrangements.Condolences may be found online at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
