Dorothy Lee (Sears) Stringer, 94, beloved mother and grandmother, left this world on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 8:34 p.m. at her home and entered into the peace and beauty of heaven.
Born in Jerseyville on March 20, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roy "Tuke" M. & Teresa M. (Flamm) Sears. She was a retired food service employee of Principia College and was a member of Holy Ghost Church.
She married the George Tilden Stringer on June 3, 1943 in St. Charles, Mo. He passed away on January 15, 1996.
She is survived by two daughters: Nancy Moulton of Jerseyville and Debra Broers of White Hall, son-in-law: Ed Hetzel of Jerseyville, former son-in-laws: Tim Moulton and Joe Broers; grandchildren: Jon and Andy Hetzel, Alex Moulton, Abigail Durbin, and Kelsey Broers; her 7 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law: Marie Sears.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Cynthia Hetzel, and siblings: Ralph (Tag) Sears, Betty (Hubert) Allen, Donald (Katie) Sears, Ronald Sears, and Charles (Karen) Sears.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Holy Ghost Church in Jerseyville.
Funeral mass will be held from 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Holy Ghost Church in Jerseyville. Father Martin Smith will be officiating.
Burial will be at Kane Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Jerseyville Public Library or to Holy Ghost and St. Francis Schools.
