Dorothy L. Massalone, 81, passed away at 7:55am on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at her residence with her loving family be her side. She was born on June 24, 1931, in Omaha Township, Illinois the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Cope) Shain. She married Joseph J. Massalone Jr. on January 24, 1954, in Long Beach, California and he preceded her in death on December 15, 2000. Survivors include one daughter: Marietta Massalone Bailey - Cupp of Alton, one son: Frank Massalone of Alton, one grandson: Travis Bailey and his wife: Miranda Yancey Bailey of Alton.
She was formerly employed at Owens - Illinois Glass Works as a selector. She then went to work at Alton Public Schools as a server for 34 years prior to her retirement. She attended Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9am until time of funeral services at 10am on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Emmanuel Free Methodist Church, 3993 Fosterburg Road, Alton, Illinois. Rev. Mark Scandrett will officiate. Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
