Dorothy Gauch

Dorothy Jean Gauch, nee Nesbitt, 88, of Belleville, IL, born July 14, 1937, in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Evervella of Swansea.

Mrs. Gauch was a homemaker and thoroughly enjoyed raising her children. She then went on to receive her CNA license. She loved to crochet, make quilts, and baby Afghans.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence L. Gauch, who died on August 20, 1997; a son, Glenn Gauch; her parents, Erwin and Thelma “Selma”, nee Russell, Nesbitt; and two brothers, Cyrus (Betty) Nesbitt and Elmer Nesbitt.

Surviving are her daughter, Debra (Robert) Hyde; two grandchildren, Robert L. Hyde II and Matthew (Julie) Gauch; six great-grandchildren, Dylan R. Hyde, Jameson Gauch, Claire Gauch, Lexi Gauch, Charlie Gauch, and Hazel Gauch.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff members of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Memorial Hospital, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Evervella of Swansea, and Evercare at University of Edwardsville, for the wonderful care given to Dorothy over the past six months.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Ben Godard officiating.

Burial will be held at Smithton City Cemetery, Smithton, IL.
