Dorothy Ridder

Dorothy G. Ridder, 75, died at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her residence.  She was born November 12, 1941 in Alton the daughter of the late John D. and Emma M. (Schreier) Ull.  She was a graduate of Alton High School and Southern Illinois University, she worked in the Alton School District No. 11.  Dorothy was a member of P.E.O. Chapter JZ, Alton Area Service League, and Illinois Retired Teacher Association and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she worked on many committees and was recognized as Woman of Distinction. She had a love and appreciation for antiques.   On June 18, 1966 in Alton she married Frank R. Ridder and he survives.  Also surviving are one daughter, Blythe Ridder Schaberg (Tim) of Dunlap, IL, two grandchildren, Jack Nicholas and Madison Jayne Schaberg.  She considered her greatest achievements in life were her marriage, her role as mother and grandmother, her association with wonderful friends, and her walk with God.  She was preceded in death by one son, John Ridder on September 11, 2002.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park with Reverend Tim Pate Officiating.   A lover of animals she felt the need to find good homes for stray cats and dogs.  Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter or Main Street United Methodist Church.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
