On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, Dorotha Joan Short went to meet her Lord and Savior.
She was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Winchester, IL to Stanley and Cora (Coats) Tendick.
She married Merle Glenn Short on his 18th birthday, Sept. 18, 1950. From 1953 to 1974 they were blessed with 5 children, Steve, Mike, Debra, Tim, and Chuck. On Sept. 18, 2015, they celebrated 65 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle Glenn Short; loving in-laws, Raymond and Lora (Field) Short; nephew Curtis Short; brothers Don and Mack Tendick; sisters Alma Marie Tendick and CloAnn McGlasson; a daughter-in-law, Arlene Short; and a sister-in-law, Lois (Short) Pruitt.
She is survived by two brothers, Tom (Betty) Tendick and Mo (Jamie) Tendick; and her sister, Trudy (Bo) Hayes.
She leaves four sons, Steve (Linda) Short of Manito, IL, Mike (and companion Lisa) Short, Tim (Karla) Short and Chuck (Christie) Short, all of Cottage Hills; her daughter, Debra Marie Short of Alhambra; 8 grandchildren, Steven Ray, Jason Alan, Brittany Rachelle, Jenna Leigh, Dylan Reece, Matthew Glenn, Drake James, and Ace Alan; great-grandchildren, Mason, Sarah, Sophia, Ethan Ray, Gentry, Jordan, Skyler; and a great-great-grandson, Nathan.
Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, graveside services are being limited to family only and will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
