Doris Marie Snider, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Born August 31, 1931 in Chaffee, MO, she was the daughter of Henry and Alta (Poole) Hawkins. Mrs. Snider retired from the dietary department of OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center after over 20 years of service. She had a very strong faith in God and was a member of the Jerseyville First Assembly of God Church. She had a servant’s heart and enjoyed charity work. She loved to travel and work in her yard. On August 7, 1948 she married Paul E. Snider in Piggott, AK. He survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Paula Wildt of Godfrey, a son, Frank Snider of Bethalto, five grandchildren, Ashley Wallis (Jeffrey), Allison Wildt, Brett Wildt (Nicole), Kelly Foushee, and Melinda Weber (Ty), five great grandchildren, Taylor Wildt, Elizabeth Wildt, Ella Wallis, Jackson Wallis and Cardin Weber as well as two sisters-in-law, Maggie Hawkins of Sebring, FL, and Omega Hawkins of Jackson, MO. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Clifton and Shirley Hawkins, four sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Biford Warren, Mary and Paul Gibbons, Margaret and Walter Young, and Lorraine and Donald Burkett, a daughter-in-law Anne Rose Snider, a son-in-law, Kevin Michael Wildt and a grandson-in-law, Tony Foushee. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018. Reverend Larry Hayes and Reverend Carl Hayes will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to Operation Blessing or Meals on Wheels.
