Doris J. Steiner, 79, passed away at 10:40 am on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Foxes Grove in Wood River, under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
She was born on January 13, 1933 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Violet Bunse.
Doris was a custodian with the Bethalto School District for fifteen years until retiring in 1992. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. She enjoyed bingo and crafting and she was very outgoing and loved to socialize.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sheryl and Bob Scheffel of Greenville, SC and Darin Scott and Paula Steiner of Bethalto; three grandsons, Justin, Matthew and Jeffrey; a great granddaughter, Britney; a sister, Vickie Parrish of Bethalto and a niece, Angelina Lepes of Bethalto.
She is preceded in death by her mother, and a son, Dennis Crouch.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10 am on Monday, August 27, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Willard Meyer officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran School or Zion Lutheran Church.
