Donnie Antoine

Donnie Lee Antoine, 71, died at 5:45 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at St. Louis University Hospital after suffering a stroke the week prior.

He was born in West Frankfort on Jan. 5, 1941, the son of the late Frank & Dorothy (Fisher) Antoine.

The family resided in Southern Illinois for a short time before moving to the East Alton - Wood River area, where Donnie graduated from high school

He served with the U.S. Coast Guard, and returned home to be employed with the Olin Corporation where he worked in tool & die for 35 years, retiring in 1997.

He married the former Beverly Dugge on Dec. 19, 1960 in Keokuk, Iowa, and for a short time the two made their home in the Godfrey area, before moving to his dream farm in English Township in Jersey County in the early 70's.  Donnie loved his farm, raising a variety of animals and gardens.  He loved having his family there, raising his two daughters with strong family values, and was cherished as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Antoine of Jerseyville; two daughters, Susan, and her husband, James Jump of Godfrey and Sherrii Antoine, and her companion, Robert Ellis of Godfrey; six grandchildren, Christopher Legate, Daniel Legate, Joshua Jump, Jessica Jump, Dustin Mayer and Jacob Jump; four brothers, Lloyd Antoine of Jerseyville, Mike Antoine of Elsah, Frank Antoine of Wood River and Brian Antoine of East Alton; two sisters, Annabelle Randolph of Jerseyville and Linda Antoine of Wood River.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frankie Norton; a brother, Thomas Antoine; and an infant brother, Clarence Antoine

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday.  Rev. Kelly Mitteis will officiate.

Burial will be in the Woodland Hills Cemetery in Wood River.

Memorials may be given to his family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
