Donna Elam

Donna Faye Elam, age 91, of Mulberry Grove Road north of Keyesport, IL, passed away peacefully, at 3:43 p.m. Saturday April 4, 2026, at HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at Noon, Wednesday April 8, 2026 at the Mulberry Grove First Baptist Church with Brother Joe Lawson and Brother Dennis Hutchinson, officiating. Interment will follow in Payne Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until service Time. Memorials in Donna’s memory may be made to Payne Cemetery.

Donna, the youngest of three children from Elmer (Cotton) and Ruby Alice (Gray) Crothers, was born July 13, 1934, Vandalia, Il. She attended the Vandalia public schools and graduated from Vandalia High School Class of 1952.

Donna and John W. Elam were united in marriage on April 13, 1952. They bought a farm north of Keyesport, where they worked and lived for the rest of their lives. Donna worked for Robbins Restaurant early in life and for Hooks Drug store, but her highest calling was to be a home maker and farm wife. They shared 49 years of marriage together, until John’s passing on December 25, 2001. They raised four sons and one daughter on the farm: Greg (Carla) Elam, Bill (Vicki) Elam, Debbie (Tom) Hopkins, Daren (Sheila) Elam, and Derek (Julie) Elam. Donna was blessed with eleven Grandchildren: Nathan (Tina) Elam, Casey (Kory) Meskil, Amy (Kevin) Davis, Jeremy (Brigette) Hopkins, Jake (Lori) Hopkins, Jess (Ashleigh) Sloan, Clint (Krystal) Elam, Carrie (Ryan) Chamberlain, Josh (Becky) Elam, Nic (Cheyenne) Elam, and Brandon (Melissa) Elam. She was also given 23 Great Grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, her two sisters, Dorothy Lentz and Mary Lou Alender, and one great granddaughter Hannah Elam Davis.
