Donald Louis Schmedeman, 78, of Granite City, IL, born October 30, 1947, in Du Quoin, IL, died Monday, August 24, 2026, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Schmedeman retired as an electronics technician assembler after working with the May Department Stores Company and then Macy’s, Inc. for many years. He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, and thrifting. Donald was a member of the Midwest Coinshooters and Historical Club. He was a United States Army Veteran and served from 1968-1970.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Vicki Schmedeman; a daughter, Sara Schmedeman; and his parents, Fred and Winifred, nee Kellerman, Schmedeman.
Surviving are a son, Alan Schmedeman; a daughter, Amy Schmedeman; three grandchildren, Danica, Kody, and Zane; a great-granddaughter, Samara, and one more great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Linda; a brother; Terry; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and other family and friends.

Burial with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
