Donald Paul Gulledge, 63 of Jerseyville, IL passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO of heart complications. Paul was born on August 7, 1953 in Springfield, IL to Billie (nee May) Gulledge and the late Robert E. Gulledge Sr. He had fond memories of his childhood in Pleasant Hill, IL and graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1971, then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. Paul married his beloved wife Tharinee on July 2, 1986 in San Antonio, TX. His most recent position was as the CIO of the Department of Labor for the State of Illinois, prior to retirement. Paul is also a Vietnam Veteran and served in the United States Air Force from 1971-1991, where he retired as a 1st Lieutenant.
He is survived by his wife Tharinee (nee Sukbumrung), a son Robert (Dolor) Gulledge of Lansing, IL and daughter, Angie (Chris) Norris of Fenton, MO, as well as six grandchildren who he loved with all his heart; Challaya Campbell, Juliean and Janelle Gulledge, Tia, Lexi and Hayden Norris. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Billie (nee May) Gulledge, three brothers; Bob Jr. (Sherry) Gulledge of Pittsburg, IL, John Mark (Oksana) Gulledge of Fort Worth, TX and Charles (Brooke) Gulledge of Edwardsville, IL and two sisters; Linda (Rich) Bechtold of Jerseyville, IL and Kina (Evan) Jones of McKinney TX, as well as fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
Paul was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He had such a big heart that touched so many with his generosity and servitude. He will be forever missed and remembered for being a patient, kind, loving and giving person.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 6th at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, IL where Reverend (Bob Taylor) and Pastor (Dennis Hill) will officiate. Visitation will take place from 1:00-3:00pm and a memorial service will begin at 3:00pm with Military Rites by Jerseyville American Legion Post #492. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Gulledge family for medical expenses.
