Donald McLaughlin

Donald “Don” Eugene McLaughlin, 76, of Brighton, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Evercare of Jerseyville.

He was born on February 21, 1950, in Litchfield, the son of the late Forest and Edna (Gregory) McLaughlin.

Don married Shirley Paris on September 11, 1995, in Carlinville.

He served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Heritage Museum in Brighton and served on the Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District from 1981-1997. Don retired as a letter carrier from the United States Postal Service after 12 years. He also worked for Kienstra Concrete as a concrete truck driver and owned and operated MNM Auto in Piasa.

Don is survived by his wife, Shirley; four children, Robin (Jay) Clark of Brighton, Rick (Jaymie) McLaughlin on Brighton, John Jones of Florissant, MO, and Cassie (Cole) Hoyt of St. Jacob; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Verna Robinson; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers Raymond Wiltshire, Floyd Wiltshire, Gerald McLaughlin, and David McLaughlin.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm until the time of memorial service at 6 pm on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
