Donald Wayne Lloyd, 86, of Bethalto, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at his daughter's home in Lee's Summit, MO.
He was born on March 23, 1937 in Eldorado, IL, the son of Orban and Opal (Wells) Lloyd. He married Judith "Judy" Kaye Willis on February 7, 1959, in East Alton at the Assembly of God.
Don earned his bachelor's degree in music from SIUE while working at Olin Corporation Winchester, retiring as a machinist after 37 years of service. Don was a member of the Bethalto Church of God, where he also served as the minister of music for 37 years. Music was his passion in life. Don owned a produce market on Culp Lane in Bethalto as well and loved to garden. However, his true love in life was his wife of almost 65 years, his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Along with his wife, Judy, he is survived by children, Gary (Deborah) Lloyd of Bethalto, and Cindy (Steve) Goldschmidt of Lee's Summit, MO; four grandchildren, Bryan (Beth) Lloyd of Kearney, MO, Brandon (Andrea) Lloyd of Bethalto, Brittany (Blake) Fletcher of Lee's Summit, MO, and Matthew (Allison) Goldschmidt of Lee's Summit, MO; nine great-grandchildren, Aubrie and Avyn Lloyd, Eden, Emma and Jude Lloyd, Brooke and Blaire Fletcher, and Grace and Samantha Goldschmidt; his siblings, Darlene (Jerry) Stein of Greenfield, IL, Janice (Bruce) Crow of East Alton, and Sheryl (Joel Satterfield) Lloyd; and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Bill Lloyd.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 9 am until time of service at 11 am, at Bethalto Church of God, with Rev. Jacob Skelton as officiant. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
