Donald L Wahl, 80 passed away at 9:20 am Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton with his family by his side.

He was born on November 4, 1933 in Springfield, IL, the son of Percy and Velma (Ayers) Wahl. 

He married Patricia Clark on April 11, 1953 in Rockbridge, IL.  She preceded him in death on December 4, 2010. 

He was the superintendent of buildings at Southern Illinois University. He worked part time for the Belk Park Pro Shop for 15 years.  His biggest hobby was golfing with his golf buddies.  He enjoyed working outside, he coached baseball for the Boys and Girls Club, the YMCA and Khoury League, but most of all he lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Anthony “Tony” Wahl of Godfrey; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan & Terry Yates of Moro; three grandchildren, Matthew Wahl of St. Charles, MO, Michael Wahl of Tyler, TX, and Nicholas Yates of Godfrey; his siblings and their spouses, Pete and Carol Wahl of West Frankfort, IL, Ronnie and Linda Wahl of Gillespie, Stanley and Cathy Wahl and Randy and Rhonda Wahl, Phyllis and Larry Brogdon, all of Murrayville, IL; a brother-in-law, James and Judy Clark of Godfrey; a sister-in-law, Sandy and Joe Powell of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, Liz Wahl.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday, March 3, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, February 4, 2014 with Pastor Mark Hofferber and Chaplain Bruce Baumberger officiating.

Burial will follow at Witt Cemetery in Rockbridge, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Bethalto Boys and Girls Club.
