Donald L. Bourland, 74, died at 5:52 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Born July 22, 1935 in Wood River, he was the son of Silas A. and Verble E. (Bilderbeck) Bourland. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Anchor of Hope Fellowship Center and the American Legion. He enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable garden. He retired as a pipe fitter from the Olin Corporation.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Scott and her husband Dan of Las Vegas, NV and Donna Mortland and her husband Brad of Godfrey, three sons, Michael Bourland and his wife Dawn of Des Moines, Iowa, Steven Bourland of Wood River and Keith Bourland and his wife Carolyn of Alton, 15 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one brother, Gerald L. Bourland and his wife Joan of Bethalto, a sister, Evelyn L. Tice of Bethalto, a sister-in-law, Carol Bourland of Wood River, numerous nieces and nephews and his former wife and friend, Eleanor Bourland of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert L. Bourland and a sister, Dorothy J. Myers. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Reverend Seeram Garney will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
