Donald E. Hamilton, 89, formerly of Wood River, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at his residence.
Born January 3, 1934 in Argo, IL, he was the son of Harry and Mary (Lawler) Hamilton.
He was a long time Financial Secretary and proud 72 year member of Carpenters Local 664.
On September 3, 1954 in Wood River, he married Rovene Fulton. She died January 6, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Bob (Karen) Hamilton of Chesterfield, MO, Kevin (Mary) Hamilton of St. John's, FL; two daughters, Jennie (Dick) Mersman of Bethalto, Julie (Steve) Dunning of Edwardsville; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Marilee (Jim) Graham of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sisters, Betsy Davis, Rita Anne Cook.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 am until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm, Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River. Father Donald Wolford will officiate.
Interment will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to Alton Memorial Hospital Health Services Foundation and/or masses.
