Donald F. Schrimpf,age 89, passed away at 10:50 am on Friday, March 17, 2017.
He was born February 8, 1928 in Alton the son of Emil and Elsie (Scholz) Schrimpf.
He married Charlene E. Walker on July 17, 1982 in Las Vegas, NV.
Donald was a family oriented man, who enjoyed traveling in his motor home, spending summers at his house in the Ozarks and sailing. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from St. Louis University and Westminister.
In addition to his wife he is survived by five children, James (Katie) Schrimpf of Godfrey, Mary Schrimpf of Safety Harbor, FL, Deborah (Ron) Torbeck of Brownstown, IL, David (Tracy) Ackerman of Fairview Heights, IL, Diane (Mike) Matsche of Godfrey; eight grandchildren, Michael and Sara Schrimpf, MyKala Torbeck, Michael Matsche Jr., Danielle Feezel, Heather Read, Misty Fletcher, Justin Ackerman and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Robert Schrimpf and a sister, Elizabeth Evans.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with military honors performed by Alton VFW Post 1308.
Memorials may be directed to 5 A’s Animal Shelter or the American Stroke Association.
