Donald Earl Shearburn, 89, passed away at 6:45 pm, Monday, March 2, 2015 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey, with family at his side.
He was born in Alton, Illinois on December 3, 1925, the son of the late Oral and Nellie (Roberts) Shearburn Geissert.
He married his high school sweetheart, Jean Loellke, on June 18, 1948 in Alton. She survives.
Donald graduated from Alton High School. After he served in the US Army Air Corp from 1944 to 1946, he graduated from the University of Illinois. He was the owner and president of House of Tools and Engineering Inc. Donald was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, former president of Lockhaven Country Club, former president of Consistory at E.U.C.C. for 5 years, and was involved with the Piasa Council Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; one daughter, Kaye (Donald) Sutton of Brighton; one son, Kim (Donna) Shearburn of Town and Country, MO; five grandchildren, Amy (Thomas) Williams, Nicholas Sutton, Taira (Jason) Price, Tyler Shearburn, and Trisha (René) Trevino; three great grandchildren, Kyle, Karson, and Klasey Price; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy McConathy Redmon.
Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be at 10 am on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Evangelical U.C.C. with Reverend Jerry MeCaskey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ Godfrey.
