Donald Felts

Donald “Don” E. Felts, age 86, of Holiday Shores, Illinois, died at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. He was born February 7, 1931, in DuBois, Illinois, the son of the late Sylvester & Hallene (Seibert) Felts. Don retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Major after 20 years of service & received four air medals during the Vietnam War. He married LaVerne O’Grady August 1, 1953, in Tucson, Arizona. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2014.  He is survived by three daughters, Donna Jean “D.J.” & Alan Hawkins of Springfield, Illinois, Nancy Cahalan & husband Robert of Worden, Illinois, and Lori Felts of Worden, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Jesse Rose, Alex Felts, Sara Felts, Rianne Hawkins & husband Neil Calderon, Carly Hawkins, Jillian Hawkins, Bridget Cahalan, Colleen Sikes & husband Josh, Brandy Rivera & David Felts; four great grandchildren, Caiden Rose, Hazel Calderon, Mychaela Jacobson, and Walter Calderon; and one sister, Dorothy Ritter of Kearney, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael & Roger Felts and one granddaughter, Katie Rose.  Don was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway, Illinois, Tamaroa Masonic Lodge #107 and a past member of the Eden Church Choir. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at St. John’s U.C.C. in Midway, with Rev. Lori Schafer officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. The family request memorials to the St. John’s U.C.C. in Midway.
