Don Arnold Don Stephen Arnold, 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Bethalto Care Center.He was born March 19, 1946, in Crab Orchard, Illinois, son of the late Erma (Odom) Arnold and Clifford Arnold.Don and Joyce (Simpson) Arnold were married on March 14, 1998, at Bethalto Church of God with Pastor Jesse Wiggins presiding.Don was a graduate of SIUC with a Business & Marketing Degree. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era.He was employed as an operator with Shell Oil, now Conoco Phillips, for 30 years.Don was a Lay Minister with the Bethalto Church of God of which he was a member for 19 years. He was Minister of Visitation, taught a Sunday school class, coordinator of the Young at Heart senior group, Men’s Ministry and was an elder and deacon during this time. He also ministered at Sky Line Apartments and Hillcrest Apartments in Alton. He had a passion to get Jews back to Israel, over the past 15 years he had sponsored 204 people of Jewish decent, back to Israel.Survivors include his wife, Joyce Arnold; one son, Clayton Arnold of Bloomington, Illinois; two daughters, Olivia McCray of Decatur, Illinois, Sharma Halbert of Bethalto; five grandchildren, Larry McCray, Eleonore Grace Arnold, Zach Finegan, Kayleigh Finegan, Brenna Halbert; two step-children; four step-grandchildren; and one sister in law, Bonnie Arnold.In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by one brother, Darryl Arnold and one sister, Linda Heltsley.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Bethalto Church of God, 800 East Bethalto Drive, Bethalto, Illinois.Funeral service will begin at 10 am, Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Bethalto Church of God with Pastors Tim Campbell, Joe Dunnagan, & Shea Hughes presiding over the service.Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, Illinois.Memorials may be made to the Aliyah Ministry Jews to Jerusalem in care of Bethalto Church of God.Online condolences and memorials may be sent to www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
