Dolores Eileen Dyer, 87, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018, at 5:45 pm.
She was born May 10, 1930, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Elmer and Elsie (Bufe) Franke, both preceded her in death. Dolores married Denzil Dyer on October 15, 1949 in Roxana, he survives.
Dolores enjoyed gardening, reading, embroidery as well as being a world traveler. Dolores was a member of the Bethalto Women’s Club. She was a homemaker until her children were grown, when she became a payment clerk at the Bethalto Water Department, while living in the area. She was a faithful member of the Roxana Church of the Nazarene for many years serving along with her husband as youth leaders and Sunday School teacher. Dolores had previously worked for Helen’s Hallmark store in Mobile, AL, where her and her husband resided for the past 40 years, recently moving back to Bethalto.
She is survived by 2 children, Jeffry Dyer of Bethalto and Sheri (Jay) Shoff of Swansea; 4 grandchildren, Kyle (Kelly) Dyer, Mark Dyer, Kelli (Randy) Goodwin and Scott Shoff; and 4 great grandchildren, Chloe, Sophie, Colby and Macy.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Darlene Franke, and sister Melva Gail Clouatre.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 11 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Reverend Jay Shoff will be officiating. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
