Dollie Berniece Cooper, 66, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 at her daughter’s home.
Born March 18, 1952 in Heidelberg, Germany, she was the daughter of Herta (Loehrich) Johnson of Rosewood Heights and the late Darrell Johnson. She retired as an RN from OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center after 25 years of service and then became an administrative supervisor for Barnes Jewish Hospital. She also worked as a nurse for several group homes. She enjoyed camping at Sam A. Baker State Park in Missouri.
Surviving is a daughter, Traci Cooper (Shawn Grizzle) of Alton, a son, Dustin Honchell (Brandi) of Dow, 10 grandchildren, Thayde Cooper, Hailey Cooper, Hayden Grizzle, Colton Grizzle, Zoe’ Honchell, Noah Honchell, Kassidy Bowman, Khloey Bowman, Ryan Bowman and Ryker Honchell, her former husband and father to her children, Mike Cooper, two sisters, Betty Laubscher (Lee) of Rosewood Heights, and Cathi Shelton of Bethalto, one brother, Jim Johnson (Maryann) as well as many nieces and nephews, and her significant other, Kevin “Greg” Allen of Alton.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Tara Cooper and Trisha Cooper, a son, Nathan Pfeiffer, and a brother-in-law, Mike Shelton.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
Pastor Matt Vonwald will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
