Dennis L. "Zip" Zobrist, age 80 of Highland, IL, died Monday, February 19, 2024, at his residence in Highland, IL.

He was born on Friday, January 21, 1944, in Highland, IL, the son of Hebert and Leona (nee Ahring) Zobrist.

On Saturday, April 24, 1965, he married Barbara C. Korte at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pierron, Illinois, who survives.

He was a member of Marine Sportsmen's Club, Brick Layers Union and Knights of Columbus #1580, Highland, IL.

Dennis was born in Highland, IL and grew up in Marine, IL. He graduated from Triad High School in 1962. "Zip" worked for Bellm Freight, Poettker Construction, Korte Construction, Becker Brick Worker, and the major part of his life for his company Zobrist Brick Work, for over 40 years. In retirement he worked for his son at D & M Services. He was active in fast pitch softball, bowling, fishing, hunting and stock car racing. He drove at Highland Speedway car #500 and after he was done driving his favorite car was #21. He also enjoyed his turtle farm in the backyard. He was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan. And above all he enjoyed time spent with his grand and great grand kids.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Fr. Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating.

Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.
