Dennis Lee Murray was pronounced dead at his residence in Alton on Sunday Night July 2, 2017.
He was born on December 23, 1942 to his parents Watson Fain and Betty Joyce (Guilander) Murray around Kane, IL.
He went to Kane Grade School and graduated from Jerseyville High School. He married Elizabeth Hyde in Nov. of 1965. They later divorced.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law: Anne and Jack “Frank” Hullett of St. Charles, MO, Amy and Gerald “Jerry” McMurray of Florissant, MO, two loved grandchildren: Jacob and Hannah McMurray of Florissant, MO and 3 step-grandchildren: Joshua, Jeremy & Zanni McMurray, a brother Gordon Murray, Dennis’ ex-wife Elizabeth Hyde, an aunt:Charolette Woods and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents: Mathew and Nonie Murray, Orville and Edna Guilander and a sister-in-law: Jan Murray.
Dennis farmed around Greene County, IL and later in Calhoun County, IL before moving to Godfrey, IL where he held various jobs before working for BJC Healthcare as a driver until his retirement in 2003. He loves spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved reading and travelling.
Private burial will take place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 8, 2017 at 11 A.M. at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Memorials may be made to Kane Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at: www.airsman-hires.com.
