Dennis A. “Dad” Underwood, 65, died at 1:59 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born October 12, 1946 in Peoria, he was the son of Richard and Faye (Martin) Underwood. Mr. Underwood served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was a member of the VFW Post 1308 in Alton. He was also a member of A.B.A.T.E., the Alton Eagles Foe No. 254, and the National Chapter of Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.). He worked for Boeing in St. Louis, MO for 26 years as a tool and die maker. On May 26, 1979 in Washington, IL, he married the former Pamela Wilson. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jason (Bobbie) Tetidrick of Alton and Jeffrey Underwood of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Tetidrick, one sister, Diane (Ron) Barry of Washington, IL, extended family members, and his mother-in-law, Wyvonna “Bonnie” Wilson of Washington, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Casual attire is requested as that would have been Dennis’ wish. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Reverend Larry Lacher will officiate.
