JERSEYVILLE – Denice Giffin, 63, died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis, MO.
She was born on July 28, 1953 in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, one of four children born to the late Edward & Barbara (McGhee) Clark.
Denice and her siblings spent their childhood growing up at various Naval bases throughout the country, when her father retired from the United States Navy the family settled in Laura, OH and it was here that Denice met Thomas Giffin and the two were married on December 1, 1972 and shared nearly 21 years together raising their three daughters.
Thomas and Denice ultimately relocated to Jerseyville where she has resided for the past 30 years and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at various nursing homes throughout the area including Jerseyville Manor until 1995, when her health no longer allowed her to continue working.
She was a member of the Eastland Baptist Church in Jerseyville and in her spare time enjoyed knitting and working on various craft projects and was known for her extensive collection of lighthouses.
It was the role of mother and grandmother that she was most proud of and she will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Julie & Christopher Schaefer, currently stated with the United States Navy in San Diego, CA; Karen & Michael Finley of Woodstock, AL; and Laura & David Nixon of Alabama; five grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon and Sarah Finley; and Austin and Tori Nixon; and a sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Mike Pomerez of Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Thomas Giffin; as well as two brothers, Dennis and Larry Clark.
Per her wishes, cremation rights will be accorded.
