Delores Rogers

Fieldon |

Delores “Dode” Elizabeth Rogers, 92, passed away at 9:45 p.m., Sunday, November 12th, 2023 in Jerseyville, Illinois after almost three years of amazing care provided by Jerseyville Estates and Jerseyville Manor.

Delores was born in Fieldon, Illinois on June 3, 1931, the youngest of two daughters born to the late Joseph and Isabella (Bernt) Klunk.

She graduated from Jersey Township High School before beginning her career at Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Alton, Illinois.  Delores worked 27 years before retiring in 1977, after which she dedicated her time to her family and friends and completing the hobbies she loved.

For over 85 years, Delores was blessed to live between her childhood home and her forever home, which were both within one city block in Fieldon.  She filled those years with thousands of memories and hours of enjoyment, along with her older sister, Leola, and many fabulous family members and close friends.

It was there in Fieldon, Illinois that she met and married James Edward Rogers before raising their two sons, David “Dave” and Richard “Dick”.

Delores was strong willed and stubborn at times, both admirable qualities that attributed to her living and managing her household alone for 47 years.  She also had an immense heart and wonderful sense of service to others. She was generous with what she had, dedicated to those close to her, and fiercely independent. She was resourceful and filled with skills gained through all her life experiences.

She found pleasure in the simple things in life, such as spending hours tending to the plants in her amazing garden, putting together puzzles, playing dominoes, cooking the favorite dishes of her family, and helping those in need.

Delores is survived by two sons, David (Linda) Rogers of St. Louis and Richard (Barbara) Rogers of Bethalto; six grandchildren, Kia Rogers (Bryan Jackson), Holly Reinheimer (Johnny Ezell), Kurt (Jenny) Reinheimer, Michelle Rogers (Nic Smith), James (Angie) Rogers, and Lisa (Andy) Kappesser; ten great-grandchildren, Alaina Kraemer (Kyle Pusateri), Natalie Jackson, Max, Sam, August, and Phoebe Reinheimer, Noah, London, and Ethan Rogers, and Sydney Kappesser; several nieces and nephews and many caring friends.

In addition to her parents, Delores is preceded by her husband, her sister, an infant daughter, Diana Sue Rogers; and an infant grandson, Steven Edward Rogers.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fieldon, with Father Martin Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fieldon.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fieldon.
