Delores Economy

Delores J. Economy, 94, of Madison, Illinois, passed away at 9:27 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at her home.  She was born January 22, 1929, in Madison, and daughter of the late Charles A. and Valeta (Beck) White.  She married Michael Economy Sr. on April 2, 1949, in Madison and he passed away on October 7, 2005.  She retired in 1992 as a head cook from the Madison School District after over 20 years of dedicated service at the high school.  She was a faithful member of St. Mary & St. Mark Catholic Church in Madison and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. 

She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.  She is survived by a son, James “Pat” Economy of Staunton, Illinois; her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Michael Gravlin of O’Fallon, Missouri; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andy and Debbie Economy of Madison; other extended family and friends.  In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Economy Jr.; a baby sister, Billie Joe White and three brothers, Norvel White, Bertin White and Charles White. 

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at St. Mary & St. Mark Catholic Church in Madison on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon with Father Steve Thompson as celebrant.  Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.  Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to Masses.  Irwin Chapel of Granite City in charge of arrangements.  www.irwinchapel.com
