Debra Wiethe

Debra “Debi” Lynn Wiethe, nee Sweeney, born March 22, 1962 in Oceanside, California, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026 at the age of 64 surrounded by her family.

Debi had been employed in the medical field for over 40 years. She was employed at Alton Memorial Hospital as a Unit Secretary for many years as well as a Financial Assistant Specialist ED at the BayCare Winter Haven Hospital. The latter part of her career she began working alongside her husband for Wiethe Pool and Spa in Adena, OH.

She dedicated her life to the Lord and providing love and care to her family throughout the years. Debi was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, whose gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

Debi enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She adored her nieces and nephews as well as her great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Elvis and Wanda (Black) Sweeney, Debi is preceded in death by her late husband Jeffrey Buss and her nephew Brendan Woodall.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Brian Wiethe of Adena, OH, her siblings, Mike and Donna Sweeney of Eureka, IL, Mark and Sharon Sweeney of Denison, TX, and Kellee Sweeney of St. Robert, MO. She is also survived by an Uncle Howard {Patsy} Black of Granite City, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory forever.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Debi on October 16th 2026 at City Temple Church located at 4751 Maryville Rd. Granite City, IL 62040. Visitation will be held from 3 pm to 6:30 pm with a memorial service immediately following at 6:30 pm.
